The maximum length of the dissertation abstract is 350 words, including the dissertation title. The maximum length of the thesis abstract is 250 words. A manuscript represents a pre-publication format a thesis or dissertation is a final, completely edited, published document. There is a distinct difference between submitting a manuscript to a publisher and providing a completed thesis or dissertation to the Graduate School.
